A ski resort among a volcano range
Antillanca ski resort (www.antillanca.cl) is on the other side of the Andes! In Chile! Even though it is in another country, it's an out and back daytrip from our home base, Villa La Angostura. It is a small resort, but we locals love it; you too will get to know it fully right away, and feel like a kid again, roaming around your favorite playground. Situated in the Puyehue National Park, the ski resort is on the slopes of the Casablanca volcano, in the Antillanca volcanic range. The maximum altitud is found on the Cerro Haique, reaching 1540 meters above sea level, and the minimum altitud is at the Hotel Antillanca, at 1040 meters. The Antillanca ski resort, though small, boasts a sweet 464 metres (1523 feet) of vertical descent. And did I mention the drive over the Andes to get there? Breathtaking.
