AUGUST TRIP (august 10 - august 21, 2011) US$ 2,870 per person

Trip Day Date Description
1

Wednesday, August 10

We will meet at Telmho Hotel Boutique in the San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires at 1:30pm. You can grab lunch anywhere you would like. After lunch, we will have a 10 minute transfer to the Retiro bus terminal. At 3pm we board the Via Bariloche Tutto Letto bus to Bariloche.

2

Thursday, August 11

We will arrive to Bariloche around 11:30am local time. We meet the rest of the Cool Me Down crew and transfer with our Cool Me Down SUVs to our Villa la Angostura home base at Las Cumbres. Rent or buy gear in town if you need any. This evening we will have our first traditional argentine home-made dinner at Las Cumbres!

3

Friday, August 12

Full day at Cerro Bayo in VLA, just 20 minutes away from Las Cumbres. Dinner will be served by our CMD chef at Las Cumbres in VLA.

4

Saturday, August 13

Full day at Catedral. We will shuttle there after breakfast. The ride is about a 90 minute scenic shuttle. Bring playlists! After a full day at Catedral we will shuttle back to VLA. Dinner will be served by our CMD chef at Las Cumbres in VLA.

5

Sunday, August 14

We will leave VLA after breakfast and travel north on the scenic “Ruta de los Siete Lagos” (Seven Lakes Road), which attracts tourists, backpackers, and bikers from all over the world in summer months. Today our three CMD SUVs might be the only ones leaving tracks on the road. After about 3 hours we will make a stop at Casa de Te Cuncumen (which belongs to my friend Miguel), to change into our snow gear and have lunch, then continue on another 20 minutes to Chapelco. We will have a half day at Chapelco, enjoying the slopes until closing time. Seventeen minutes later we will arrive to Cerro Abanico. Dinner will be a Patagonian style asado at Cerro Abanico.

6

Monday, August 15

Full day at Chapelco. After our full day there, we will head back to our home base at Las Cumbres in VLA. Dinner will be served by our CMD chef at Las Cumbres in VLA.

7

Tuesday, August 16

OFFFFFFF! After 4 days on the slopes, we will all most likely want some rest. You get to chose your own adventure and explore around VLA. Hike? Snowshoe? Chill out at Las Cumbres? Your call. If you feel like hitting the slopes again today at either Bayo or Catedral, I can help out by driving you there (or even letting you borrow one of the CMD SUVs!), but you will be responsible for the day's lift ticket, as today is officially our day OFF. Dinner will be served by our CMD chef at Las Cumbres in VLA.

8

Wednesday, August 17

Antillanca! We will set out after breakfast and drive over the Andes, into Chile. About two hours later we will be swooping down the side of a chilean volcano. Once we are fully beat from playing around at Antillanca, we will drive back to VLA. Dinner will be served by our CMD chef at Las Cumbres in VLA.

9

Thursday, August 18

Another full day at Cerro Bayo in VLA. Dinner will be served by our CMD chef at Las Cumbres in VLA.

10

Friday, August 19

Half day at Cerro Bayo in VLA. Fly to Buenos Aires mid afternoon. Arrive to Buenos Aires, to our boutique hotel, Telmho, in the San Telmo neighborhood. Tonight is Friday. I planned the whole itinerary so that we would arrive to Buenos Aires on a Friday. Tonight you can throw on your best dancing gear and hit the streets and the Buenos Aires nightlife in style. Not looking to dance until sunrise? You can choose to go to a tango show instead. Or walk the port. Or downtown. Or relax in San Telmo. Dinner is on your own wherever you choose. (Of course I will be able to throw some good suggestions your way.)

11

Saturday, August 20

Goooooooolllll!!!! After a long night out, we can expect to have a pretty relaxed morning, (ie stumble out of bed). In the afternoon we will head to a soccer game (included in trip cost). So grab your jerseys and each other and get ready to find out why argentines are known to be the world’s most fanatic and passionate soccer crowds.

12

Sunday, August 21

After breakfast we will head up to the Rio de la Plata delta area, known as Tigre, on a private boat, and explore the delta area. We will have a special farewell lunch on board, which, again, is included in the trip cost. The early afternoon is yours to pack, shop, or explore more of Buenos Aires on foot. The trip ends after our boat tour. You could fly out of Buenos Aires this same evening. Remember, it is about a one hour transfer to the airport (included in trip cost!). You’ve been cooled!

Flexibility: Except for the flights, buses, and our night up in San Martin de los Andes, the itinerary is flexible. By this I mean that we will be able to move days around if we see that it will make our trip even better. The idea is, for example, that if we see it will be a great day at Catedral, we say “Tomorrow let’s go to Catedral,” or we do another day at Bayo. The agreement I have made with the resorts allows us to use our lift tickets at any time during the dates that we will be in the area. It’s a very Cool Me Down type of idea, I know. Now get yourself down here!
